Gibberellic acid (GA3) is a plant hormone that can be used as a chemical inducer of proximity (CIP) similar to rapamycin.
The acetoxymethyl ester modification GA3-AM allows to easily penetrate cell membranes, which is particularly useful for in vivo studies where efficient delivery of GA into cells is required.
Once inside the cell, cellular esterases hydrolyze GA3-AM, releasing the active GA3. This process ensures that the GA3 is only activated inside the cell, reducing potential side effects outside the target area.
