The first rapidly reversible chemical dimerization system (rCD1), which enables the determination of lipid-metabolizing enzyme kinetics in living cells, is now available from SiChem. This system has been successfully applied to induce and stop the activity of phosphatidyl 3-kinase (PI3K) [Feng, S., Laketa, V., Stein, F., Rutkowska, A., MacNamara, A., Depner, S., Klingmüller, U., Saez-Rodriguez, J. & Schultz, C. Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2014, 53, 6720–6723. doi.org/10.1002/anie.201402294
More recently, similar chemogenetic strategies have been explored in different biological contexts, including the recruitment of a splicing factor to the nuclear lamina for its inactivation (Communications Biology 2022, 5:736. doi: 10.1038/s42003-022-03689-y
