CoA-Cy3 (Coenzyme A-Cy3) is a fluorescent coenzyme A derivative carrying a Cy3 fluorophore. It can be used as a substrate for phosphopantetheinyl transferase-mediated transfer of the fluorescent label to compatible peptide-tagged proteins.
In combination with Sfp phosphopantetheinyl transferase and peptide tags such as the YbbR tag, CoA-Cy3 enables site-specific fluorescent protein labeling. This approach is useful for fluorescence-based protein studies, single-molecule experiments and other applications requiring defined attachment of a Cy3 fluorophore.
SiChem CoA-Cy3 (SC-1143) has been used for Sfp-mediated fluorescent labeling of YbbR-tagged proteins in biophysical studies.
