oA-Cy5 (Coenzyme A-Cy5) is a fluorescent coenzyme A derivative carrying a Cy5 fluorophore. It can serve as a substrate for phosphopantetheinyl transferases such as Sfp, enabling enzymatic transfer of the fluorescent label to compatible peptide-tagged proteins.
CoA-Cy5 provides a convenient approach for site-specific fluorescent protein labeling and can be used with tagging systems such as the YbbR/Sfp system. The Cy5 fluorophore is suitable for fluorescence-based biochemical and biophysical experiments requiring red/far-red fluorescent detection.
Applications include site-specific protein labeling, fluorescence imaging, biochemical assays and mechanistic protein studies.
