Bt3-Ins(1,3,5)P3/AM is a membrane-permeant, bioactivatable derivative of myo-inositol 1,3,5-trisphosphate (Ins(1,3,5)P3).
The negatively charged phosphate groups are masked by acetoxymethyl (AM) ester groups, increasing lipophilicity and enabling cellular uptake. Following entry into cells, intracellular esterases cleave the ester groups to generate the active inositol phosphate derivative.
Bt3-Ins(1,3,5)P3/AM can be used for intracellular activation of IP3 receptor-dependent Ca²⁺ signaling and has been applied experimentally to induce intracellular Ca²⁺ mobilization and oscillations in intact cells.
